“The Chinese use two brush strokes to write the word 'crisis.' One brush stroke stands for danger; the other for opportunity. In a crisis, be aware of the danger--but recognize the opportunity.”
― John F. Kennedy
Welcome:
This Crisis Resource online notebook was put together for a Crisis Prevention, Planning, and Intervention course. The topics covered include: Death of a Student, Suicide Prevention/Intervention, Suicide Postvention, Threat Assessment, and Cultural Considerations in Crisis Intervention. For each category or topic, a few resources were compiled that will help when responding and dealing with crisis in the school setting. You can visit these specific topic pages by selecting them at the top of each webpage. They will link you to the individual pages to find resources which relate to each topic. These resources taken from books, classroom hand-outs, and the internet include response guidelines, response considerations in the school, developmental aspects of a crisis situation, as well as announcements and letters for parents, families and community members. The notebook will eventually be added to as necessary, but starts as a good basis for resources that can be easily accessed prior to and while dealing with and responding to crises that may arise.
